Cortland Junior Senior High School

Dear Music teacher:

My name is Gina Sikora and I am the Executive Director of Cortland Music, Inc. a non-profit organization, created 15 years ago (which became a 501(c)(3) in 2009). One of the missions of CMI is “to promote young musicians performances providing various venues according to their skills”. 

Fulfilling our mission’s precepts, we would like to invite the music teachers and students of your district to our CortlandMusic Festival that will take place at the Bru64 in Main St. Cortland on March 29 (Sunday) from 12-3 pm.

The participants can be music students who are preparing for NYSSMA solo or the private students of the music faculty. Normally students perform their pieces in our event in order to have the experience of a pre-performance or a second chance performance. 

This festival includes young musicians from all the Cortland County school districts, students from the private studios the county and from the Performing Arts Department of SUNY Cortland. The program is being filled fast, therefore please contact us immediately letting us know how many of your students will be participating and if voice soloist will need a pianist to accompany them. (the music must be provided to us as early as possible to arrange rehearsals). You can also bring an ensemble of instrumentalists or a choral group. 

During the festival students and parents can do a live podcast, so family members, who live far away, may be able to listen to their family participant; however, parents and friends who live in the Cortland area are encouraged to attend the live performance.

We will appreciate your prompt response expressing your interest so that we can reserve you space in our festival. The number of participants you may bring can be tentative at this point but it’s important that we know of your participation, so we can include your name and or the name of your district in our poster. 

We hope to hear from the teaches in the next 10 days.
