Cortland is mostly a rural area of Central New York located roughly a half-hour driving distance from these population centers: Syracuse, Binghamton and Ithaca. While there are many arts events in these population centers, transportation problems can discourage attendance by Cortland residents. Our events take place in downtown Cortland, within walking distance of – for example – two high rise buildings that house mostly senior citizens. Both events are free and open to the public, so that ticket costs are not an issue. Also, the informal atmosphere, especially of the summer festival, encourages many people to listen to classical and other styles of music.
